Isaac Newton was one of an elite group of individuals considered to have possessed one of the greatest scientific minds in history. Newton has been regarded for almost 300 years as the founding examplar of modern physical science, his achievements in experimental investigation being as innovative as those in mathematical research. Each of Newton’s five municipalities has a distinct personality, all with southern, small town charm. He discovered Newton's identities (probably without knowing of earlier work by Albert Girard in 1629), Newton's method, the Newton polygon, and classified cubic plane curves (polynomials of degree three in two variables).
